Get unstuck & feel confident in your work.

Clinical consultation and supervision to support your growth.

Counsellors generally come to this work because they want to help.

Sometimes that leads to a sense of pressure that can get in the way of supporting people the way you want to. You might find yourself sitting with clients panicking about what you should do, or leaving sessions feeling anxious and asking ‘what just happened?!’ You care deeply about your clients and want to do a good job, but sometimes wonder whether you’re cut out for this kind of work. You’re constantly thinking about the next training you need to do or book you should read to figure it out. Maybe you’re even scared to talk to other therapists - you don’t want them to find out you don’t know what you’re doing.

A lot of therapists feels this way sometimes - the problem is we don’t talk about it.

Supervision and consultation can help you see through the chaos to feel grounded in your work. Although sometimes you need specialized training to learn more about a particular technique or presenting issue, you also need to slow down and integrate your learning. Supervision can help you approach your work with intention, while developing new skills and building trust in your own capability. It also provides a safe enough space to work through the feelings that come up in session, allowing you to feel more settled and confident. When you’re not stuck in a cycle of shame, you can see where you’re already doing good work and where you have space to grow. You can feel excited about your work, and do work that sustains you.

Together, we can work through:

  • places where you feel stuck or confused

  • emotions that are triggered in your work

  • ethical decision making

  • challenges in your workplace or private practice

  • your own self-care and well-being

This work can be tough. You don’t have to do it alone.

About me as a supervisor

My approach is about offering you the safety and compassion you need to feel supported, along with gentle accountability to help you grow. I work to humanize the counselling experience and help you build shame resilience along with your skills. When it’s helpful I’ll even share some of my own experiences (and challenges!) doing this work. I don’t take on an expert stance or believe that I have all the answers - my approach is not about making you into a clinical carbon-copy of me and how I practice, but rather helping you find and develop your unique way of being in therapy.

I have post-grad training in clinical supervision and use the Seven-Eyed Seeing Model to support supervisees in their work. Most of my clinical training has been in experiential therapies that focus on the here-and-now and the importance of relationship in therapy. This also influences how I show up in supervision - our relationship is at the centre of the work we do together.

“Cultivating the capacity to accept and be with ourselves - as we are, not how we think we should be - is one of the most important steps we can take toward our ability to sustain in life.”
